Concrete has been poured. There was some definite teeth pulling to get to this point but it looks great and we are able to keep moving forward. They poured the forms first and came back to pour the garage slab a few days later. One of the reasons we didn’t rush the concrete pour was because it is so important to have the hardware (Simpson holdowns, post bases, girder hangars, etc…) in the right location. Even a half inch off can cause issues in framing, and guess what? Your concrete sub is long gone by then and you better believe your framer is going to issue you a change order. Moral of the story, take the time needed to get the foundation right.
Next is framing, which is my favorite. It is one of the most satisfying parts of new construction because you finally get a physical representation of all of that paperwork you spent so much money on.
