The 2018 OC Fair, themed “Free Your Inner Farmer,” starts this Friday, July 13th! More than 1 million people are expected to attend this year’s fair for its carnival games and rides, food creations, shopping, entertainment, and to take a selfie with so many different animals.
Here are some things you should know:
When and where is the 2018 OC Fair?
The OC Fair runs from July 13th to August 12th, Wednesday through Sunday, and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Hours are noon to midnight Wednesday through Friday and 11AM to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. The OC Fair takes place at the OC Fair & Event Center at 88 Fair Drive in Costa Mesa, right off the 55 freeway.
How do I get in?
General admission is $12 on weekdays and $14 on weekends for attendees ages 13 to 59. Ages 60 and up are $7 any day. Ages 6 to 12 are $7 any day. Ages 5 and younger are free.
Active and retired military with valid ID are free and can buy up to six general admission tickets for half off.
The super pass offers daily admission to all 23 days of the OC Fair, a carnival value book, the option to purchase up to 10 general admission tickets for $10 each, and a whole bunch of other discounts. The Super Pass is available for $40 for attendees ages 13 to 59, $33 for attendees ages 60 and up, and $33 for attendees ages 6 to 12. You can read all the details here: 2018 OC Fair Super Pass.
What about free admission?
Opening day, until 3PM offers free admission and parking. Thursdays are free all day for children 12 and younger. Thursdays from noon until 3PM you can get in free by wearing overalls. Active and retired military with Valid ID are free any day. Wednesdays offer free admission until 3PM and a free carnival ride per person, with valid donations to each week’s selected charity; you can see the list here: OC Fair Discounts. If you went to the San Diego County Fair and kept your ticket, you can get one free admission at the OC Fair (ticket must be surrendered at the gate to redeem offer). August 8th through 12th offer free admission for active-duty and professional staff of police, sheriff, fire and emergency services departments with an agency ID.
What items am I allowed to take into the OC Fair?
Snacks and beverages in factory-sealed plastic receptacles are allowed. You can also take in a soft-sided cooler. No cans, glass, or outside alcohol are allowed. All belongings are subject to inspection before entering the fairgrounds.
What are the parking options?
Parking is $10 at the fairgrounds. There is also free weekend parking off-site in the Experian parking structure, 475 Anton Blvd off Bristol Street from 10AM to 1PM.
What are the options for getting to the fair?
You can catch the OC Fair Express on weekends. Check here for details: OC Fair Express. Taxi, Uber Or Lyft zone is at Merrimac and Fairview at Orange Coast College parking lot across the street from Gate 4.
What’s new this year?
Whether it’s a new food to try or a new ride to thrill, visitors can expect the OC Fair to change things up a bit every year. You can view the full list of things to do on the OC Fair website.

My Fair Selfie: 11 Instagram-worthy backdrops are planned in this selfie space that will be open July 20th to August 12th.
Flying Jumbos is a new ride where visitors can take the controls and raise and lower their mammoth steed as they fly.
The Breeding Sheep are back in the livestock area after a two-year hiatus.
