What is being built down the street?
It seems everywhere you go nowadays, there is a construction crew not far behind. Newport Beach, in particular, has seen a steady flow of new construction and remodels. According to the city of Newport Beach, there are currently 56 active building permits in the Newport Heights/Cliff Haven area. 42 in Newport Heights and 14 in Cliff Haven. I went through all the active permits and here is the breakdown:
Cliff Haven
- New Single Family Residence: 5
- Major Remodel: 6
- Minor Remodel*: 1
- Powerwall*: 2
- (ADU* – 1 in conjunction with a new SFR)
Newport Heights
- New Single Family Residence: 17
- Major Remodel: 15
- Minor Remodel*: 8
- Powerwall*: 1
- ADU*: 1
*Minor Remodel: This includes but is not limited to new fencing, outdoor improvements, maintenance updates, etc…
*Powerwall: Expect to see some new fancy electric cars cruising the neighborhood.
* ADU – Accessory Dwelling Unit – New laws, effective January 1, 2018, are meant to promote the development of ADU’s by opening areas ADU’s can be built to all SFR zones among other provisions.
